Winter 2008 Meeting
2008 Energy Outlook Conference
February
3-6, 2008
Omni Shoreham Hotel - Washington, DC
ASERTTI Clean Energy Outlook Meeting This year's winter meeting – The
ASERTTI Clean Energy Outlook – will be held February 3 - 6, 2008, in
Washington, DC. The event offers important opportunities for attendees
to learn about new initiatives from the U.S. Department of Energy and
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, an overview from Congressional
staff on climate policy and energy appropriations, as well as updates on
ASERTTI member collaborative projects.
The timing of this year’s meeting is coincident with the release of
the President’s FY’09 budget on February 4th, which includes funding
proposals for important energy and environmental programs. This means
that attendees will have an early look at funding opportunities for the
coming year. Some of the conferences confirmed presenters
include:
- James Bradbury, Legislative Assistant, Congressman Jay
Inslee – The status of climate legislation and the outlook for
Congressional action.
- Kathleen Hogan, Director, Climate Protection Partnerships
Division, U.S. EPA – A discussion on EPA’s emerging climate
technology initiative.
- Jeffrey Harris, Vice President Alliance to Save Energy –
A discussion on the new Commercial Buildings Initiative to achieve
zero-energy commercial buildings by 2030.
- Sue Gander, National Governors Association – An update on the
governors’ call for increased state energy research and technology
transfer.
- Ed Wall, Vehicle Technologies Program Manager, U.S. DOE –
The outlook for plug-in hybrid technology transfer and funding
opportunities.
- Tom Frankiewicz, U.S. EPA, Combined Heat and Power
Partnership – An update on CHP activities and the launch of the new
EPA-ASERTTI CHP initiative.

DOE –Opportunities and priorities following the passage of the 2007
energy bill and record appropriations.
