DOE, Western Governors Agree to Cooperate on Western Projects
The Western Governors' Association and the U.S. Department of Energy
(DOE) announced an agreement on May 28, 2008, to accelerate the
development and delivery of renewable energy in the West. Over the next
three years, DOE plans to contribute up to $2.3 million to a four-phase
study of "Western Renewable Energy Zones" to address the growing demand
for electricity in the West in an environmentally friendly way. DOE’s
contribution is subject to approval by congressional appropriators. |
