$2.3 Billion for New
Clean-Tech Manufacturing Jobs
President Obama announced the award of $2.3
billion in Recovery Act Advanced Energy
Manufacturing Tax Credits for clean energy
manufacturing projects across the United States. One
hundred and eighty three projects in 43 states will
create tens of thousands of high quality clean
energy jobs and the domestic manufacturing of
advanced clean energy technologies, including solar,
wind, efficiency and energy management
technologies. As part of the Recovery Act, these
tax credits are focused on putting Americans back to
work by building a robust domestic manufacturing
capacity to supply clean and renewable energy
projects with American-made parts and equipment.
These credits are also an important step towards
meeting the President's goal of doubling the amount
of renewable energy the country uses in the next
three years with wind turbines and solar panels
built here in the United States. Please

selected projects.
EPA Webinar: Clean DG Policy
and CHP, January 21, 2010
The CHP Partnership will host a webinar, "CHP:
Opportunities at Wastewater Treatment Facilities" on
January 21, 2010, from 3:00 - 4:30 PM EST. CHP is a
reliable, cost-effective option for municipal
wastewater treatment facilities (WWTF) that have, or
are planning to install, anaerobic digesters. Biogas
flow from these digesters can be used in a CHP
system as "free" fuel to generate reliable
electricity and power for the wastewater facility.
This webinar will address opportunities and
challenges of implementing CHP at WWTFs. The webinar
will highlight EPA's CHP Partnership's efforts in
WWTF and plans going forward to further expand this
opportunity as well as two case studies of
successful CHP systems at WWTFs.
To participate, please

form. Once your registration is complete, you will
receive a confirmation email with call-in
information and a link to view the presentations
online.
ASERTTI Members RadTech
and NYSERDA Collaborate to Promote Increased
Awareness and Adoption of Energy Saving Ultraviolet
and Electron Beam Technologies
UV-EB East 2009, the first jointly sponsored
conference between ASERTTI members RadTech and
NYSERDA, was held on October 20-21 2009 at the
Niagara Falls Conference Center in Niagara Falls,
NY. The event was attended by over 200 people
including current and potential end users of UV and
EB technology in New York State, who had the
opportunity to learn about how their businesses
could benefit from the adoption of these energy
saving technologies. NYSERDA's Industrial Research
group announced the release of its first targeted
UV/EB solicitation, Program Opportunity Notice (PON)
1641: Ultraviolet Light (UV) and Electron Beam (EB)
Process Innovation and Market Transformation. As
part of the ongoing efforts between RadTech and
NYSERDA to promote increased awareness and adoption
of UV/EB technologies, RadTech will be hosting a
free webinar to promote PON 1641 and will be
creating a forum for encouraging collaboration
between RadTech members and NY State Industrial
customers interested in participating in PON 1641.
The webinar will be held on January 20, 2010 from
2:00 PM EST - 3:00 PM EST. For more information,
please visit:

ECW Webinar: Scouting for
Residential Electricity Savings, January 27, 2010
The Energy Center of Wisconsin will host a free
webinar, “Scouting for Residential Electricity
Savings” on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, from 1:00 -
2:30 PM Central Time. In this webinar, co-principal
investigators Scott Pigg and Ingo Bensch present
results from "Plugging into Savings" a field
research project funded by the Minnesota Office of
Energy Security and Minnesota Power Company. Viewers
will gain insights to help residential energy
consumers manage their plugged-in electronics and
slay their energy vampires. For more information and

Arthur Rosenfeld Steps Down
from the California Energy Commission
A driving force in making California a global
leader in efficiency, this week, the 83-year-old
nuclear physicist, Arthur Rosenfeld, will leave his
post on the California Energy Commission. A recent
Los Angeles Times article describes the tremendous
contribution to energy efficiency made by
Rosenfeld's long career. According to the article,
California homes are loaded with personal computers,
widescreen TVs, iPods, PlayStations, air
conditioners, massive refrigerators, hot tubs and
swimming pool pumps. Despite that, Golden State
residents today use about the same amount of
electricity per capita that they did 30 years ago.
For that, they can largely thank Rosenfeld, a
slight, bespectacled nuclear physicist fueled by a
passion to wring the most out of every kilowatt.
Polite and affable, with a knack for making science
understandable to people who couldn't screw in a
light bulb, Rosenfeld, starting in the 1970s,
provided California energy regulators the data they
needed to enact some of the toughest efficiency
standards in the world.
The principle, Rosenfeld said, was simple:
Conserving energy is cheaper and smarter than
building power plants. To read the entire Los
Angles Times story, please
